Alberta Drain Drainage Improvement project is a project located in Hidalgo County Precinct No. 4. A partnership between Hidalgo County precinct 4, Texas General Land Office and HCDD1 was created for this project. Project was spearheaded by Hidalgo County Precinct No. 4, funding managed by the Urban County program, and funded by a grant , Hurricane Dolly Disaster Recovery funds from the Texas General Land Office and HCDD1 2012 Bond rural drainage funds. HCDD1 Engineering staff prepared the design plans and performed the construction management and inspection services for the project. The area has had flooding issues in the past, this the need for improvements. This project The are has had flooding issues in the past, thus the need for improvements. This project consists of the creation of a new drainage ditch by extending it from an existing ditch stub from the Alamo Lateral Drain which is approximately 1/2 mile east of Tower Road to Tower Road and the installation of various drainage lines that discharge into the new drain. Area of Impact to the west is approximately 1/4 mile west of Tower Road, to the north is Alberta Road, to the east is the Alamo Lateral and to the south is approximately Owassa Road. The pipe work provides an outfall to Rincon Del Valle No. 3, Rincon del Valle No. 4, El Charro Subdivision No. 2, Owassa Acres, Tejano Estates No. 1, Brenda Estates No. 3, and the surrounding area. The ditch work and part of the pipe work was contracted out and part of the pipe work within the subdivisions was performed by Hidalgo County Precinct No. 4 crews.

This project was designe to allow storm water to collect in the roadside ditches and curb and gutter systems before entering the new drainage system which allows water to discharge into the Alamo Lateral Drain; thus, providing a way for the storm water to move out of the area more efficiently.

This new system has approximately 53,720 cy (10,850,045 gallons) of detention and conveyance.
